Introduction

This workshop is a 6 hour contact session focussing on practical product application and can be done as a refresher or stand-alone module on wound care related products in South Africa. Learners will be able to fresh up on their product knowledge and also learn tricks of the trade when it comes to dressing difficult wounds and wound sites. Practical skills sessions include:

• Current product classification according to international guidelines
• Products available in South Africa
• Techniques and tricks of the trade when applying wound dressings
• Different bandage types and how to apply it in practice

At the end of the module learners will be able to differentiate between the different dressing classifications and when and where to apply the different products according to best practice principles. Learners will be able to acquire skills in cutting and application of different wound care dressings. Learners will also be able to differentiate between the different bandage types and when and where to apply them.
