Senior Database Engineer – Korean Bilingual

• Location: Orange County, CA (On-Site, Near Huntington Beach, CA)
• Employment: Fixed-Term Contract Employee
• Contract Term : Up to 1 year , with Possible Extension or Conversion to Full-Time, possibility of transitioning to a permanent role depending on performance
• No Relocation or Visa Sponsorship Provided

For this position, Korean bilingual is required, and No-SQL (e.g., MongoDB) expertise is highly preferred.

Position Description

MegazoneCloud is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer to join our team in Orange County, CA, USA. The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for the management of the databases in our key customers’ service environment. This role involves managing, planning, developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth operation of database systems. The Senior Database Engineer will work closely with our service delivery, managed services team, and other departments to provide technical support and ensure data availability, consistency, and new environment settlement (e.g., Cloud).

The candidate shall commute every day to the office located near Huntington Beach, CA, USA.

What You Will Do

• Design, install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS).
• Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
• Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate measures.
• Perform regular backups and recovery procedures.
• Optimize database systems to improve performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with developers to design and implement database solutions.
• Collaborate with other Database engineers to support huge environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
• Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and service records.
• Manage user access and permissions.
• Lead or support database migration initiatives, including on-prem to cloud (e.g., AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, etc.) and proprietary-to-open-source DB conversions (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL)

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud-native database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, AWS DynamoDB, or GCP/Azure equivalents) is highly valued.
• In-depth knowledge of database structure principles.
• Exceptional experience with database management software (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.).
• Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in database management (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Databases, etc.).
• Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Experience in a 24x7 managed services, hosted service company, or Network Operations Center environment.
• Experience with ITIL processes and associated ITSM systems and service portals for Incident and Change Management.
• Experience with Windows and Linux system administration, supporting and scaling virtual server cloud or on-prem environments, and solving network issues.
• Understanding of sys admin concepts, including, but not limited to, virtualization, containers, disk storage, encryption, security, network connectivity, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Client relationship skills and experience managing vendors. (Pre-Sales or Consulting)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Strong desire for personal development and learning.
• Delivery-focused with the ability to drive tasks forward and meet demanding deadlines.
• Strong problem investigation and diagnosis skills.
